Wedding Makeup
Whether you plan to marry on a beach at noon or at night under the stars, by keep your makeup simple you will feel comfortable and confident. Your wedding day is definitely not the time to try something new such as the 'glitter' look or the 'dewy' look. These are sure to backfire as in your photographs you will look too greasy. Use these guidelines to create a soft, natural look.
1 Prepare the Skin:
If the wedding is outdoors, wear a moisturiser with SPF. If it is
indoors or at night, use a light or oil-free moisturiser. Next, apply
concealer with a flat brush to any blemishes, broken capillaries or
discolourations.
Apply water-based foundation, which will look the most natural in
photographs, then buff the face with a clean powder puff to blend it in
and remove excess moisture. If you are going to wear a powder blush,
set the foundation with loose powder. If you are using a cream blush,
avoid powder until you have applied the blush.

2. Apply Makeup:
Smooth a small amount of concealer or eye-makeup primer to the area
from the upper lids to the brows. Then brush a pale pink or ivory
eye-shadow over the same area.
To contour the eyes, apply a dark but neutral shade (eg. taupe, brown
or charcoal) back and forth in the creases. Using a brush, line the
upper and lower lids (optional) with brown or grey shadow - first wet,
then dry. smudge the outer corners a little with a cotton swab.
Use a white or off-white pencil to line the inside of the lower lids to
make eyes look wider and brighter. Apply two coats of water-proof
mascara and comb the lashes to avoid them sticking together. |

3. Paint the Lips:
Line and fill mouth with a neutral pencil to make lipstick stay on
longer. Brush on a deep (but not too dark) shade of matte lipstick with
a small flat brush. Dust on a bit of loose powder to set the colour and
apply a second layer of lipstick. Press a very small amount of sheer
gloss onto the centre of the upper and lower lips to give the illusion
of fullness.
4. Put on Blush:
Smile, then brush or rub blush onto the apples of the cheeks, blending
it ourward toward the ears and temples. Dust a little blush onto the
forehead, nose and chin. For an evening wedding apply a slightly darker
shade than you would for the day. Highlight the brow and cheekbones
with a subtle, shimmery makeup that's not too silvery as you will look
washed out in photographs.
